Can sunflowers be more than a casual, happy pop of color?

Sunflowers are the flower of summer, and they are easy peasy to grow! When our sunflower fields are finally in full bloom, I just want to kick off my shoes, run though the field, and celebrate because summer has truly arrived. As you can see, so does my daughter. It never gets old. If you have never tried this, I recommend adding it to your bucket list this summer!

Although they are near the top of the list for most flower lovers, sunflowers are usually seen as a casual, country flower, but not always seen as an elegant flower gracing formal dining tables or elegant weddings. Quite possibly, the sunflower could be referred to as the fun country cousin who makes everyone around them happy with their contagious energy, positive attitude, and dependable nature.

I’m on a mission to change the idea that sunflowers are just a casual flower. I believe that when carefully designed and paired with the right supporting flowers, greens, and vase, they can both steal the show at a country picnic, or get almost as much attention at a wedding as a beautiful bride. We wouldn’t want to steal her thunder.

At both elegant weddings and casual picnics, sunflowers can serve as versatile elements in floral design, offering endless possibilities for creative expression.

In my next post of this sunflower series, I’ll share a few important tips when choosing sunflowers to create a more elegant garden party design, or even a wedding.
